Shopping at DownEast Basics
I'll admit it. I'm not much of a clothing shopper for myself. Usually when I go to a store I end up buying stuff for my almost 9-year old daughter instead...so much more fun! So when I received an invitation to attend a blogger mixer at DownEast Basics at Tempe Marketplace, I was a bit hesitant, but sometimes it's good to get out of your shell, so I RSVP'd for me + a guest. Well the event was last night and now I am so glad that I attended as I had a great time with my sister and meeting other local bloggers.
Upon entrance of DownEast Basics, we were greeted warmly by the store manager. She promptly informed us of the current store promotions and told us the names of the other two employees in the store who would be happy to help with anything. She handed each of us a goodie bag with a catalog and a $25 gift card to spend in the store. Then, she pointed out the treats, cookies (peanut butter blossoms and macadamias, if you just have to know) and bottled water. Well, now we were stoked!
So, as we browsed around the store, we saw the colorful assortment of 2 for $15 layering camis and tees (including the demi camis) neatly folded on the table. My sister grabbed 2 of the demi camis right away, delighted that they carried her size in all colors. I strolled over to the denim racks in search of some cute blingy jeans. They had a 40% off special for the DownEast denim and the L.A. Idol jeans were buy 1, get one 50% off. Such a deal! I grabbed a few pairs and headed to the dressing rooms.

While in line, the Regional Manager made it a point
to come over and introduce herself and ask about my blog. She
was very personable and animated about their products and promotions. She also
leaked some exclusive gossip about a possible DownEast Basics Home store coming
soon to the East Valley. Of course, I couldn't get all of the details out of
her, but it is exciting to know that it is on its way. During our little chat,
other bloggers and guests came out of the fitting rooms to model their finds.
There were retro styled dresses, high waisted floral skirts, flowy blouses, and
of course their signature layering tees and camis being shown. After trying on
several styles of the jeans, I ended up with some skinny jeans
(usually not my style, but they fit so well). My sister got the 2 demi camis
she tried on and grabbed 2 more layering camis for my niece. We chatted with
other bloggers, ogled some more clothes on the walls, and had a few cookies
(not too many so the skinny jeans fit tomorrow LOL). We sauntered up to the
register where the store manager was ready to ring up our purchases. All in all, the experience of
shopping was a success.
If you haven’t checked out DownEast Basics, then grab your
purse and head out. They have additional locations on the East side at
Chandler Fashion Center, Dana Park, Superstition Springs Mall and at Arrowhead
Towne Center for shoppers in the West valley. If you are too busy to run out,
you can check them out online at DownEastBasics.com.
They are currently offering 30% off tees & camis, 40% off Denim, Free Shipping on orders over $100 and also have a Pinterest
contest with the chance to win a $500 shopping spree.
